Swimming and Water Safety Education

This theme encompasses papers that:

  • Investigate the effectiveness of teaching swimming and water safety skills as interventions in for all ages and settings.
  • Explore and advance the scientific and practical notion of water competency for all ages
  • Explore specific strategies to ensure equitable access to swimming and water safety programs across all populations and life stages and settings
  • Explore and evaluate system level responses including school, private and policy approaches
  • Governmental approaches to addressing children’s swimming and water safety skills including school-based, vacation based, incentive systems
  • Address short-medium term impacts of COVID pandemic on children’s swimming skills
