This workshop will provide the opportunity to observe delivery of innovative swimming and water safety programs at swim schools, aquatic centres, and coastal locations throughout Perth, while hearing from experts in the space on current trends, priorities, challenges, and achievements.

Registered Tour - Delegate Information

(Note, delegates must have registered and confirmed payment with Event Organisers to attend this tour. 

Thanks so much for registering to attend the Swimming and Water Safety Education Field Trip as part of the World Conference on Drowning Prevention 2023.

Close to 50 delegates have registered for this tour visiting swim schools, aquatic centres and Coastal locations across Perth.

Tour Details

This tour will leave and return to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre – The Coach Pick Up/Set Down Plaza Entry Level 1 (Courtyard between PCEC & Adina Apartment Hotel).

Our team will be there to greet you with a big WA welcome and smile with a WCDP logo sign to make it easy for you to spot the team.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothing including enclosed walking shoes and to pack all the essentials including: Sunscreen; Hat; Water bottle; Pen/Paper.

The tour is inclusive of bus transfers, morning tea and lunch. Delegate dietary requirements have been advised and addressed with the morning tea/lunch venues.

Please be sure to be on time for this tour as the bus will depart at 8:30am sharp.

Tour Schedule:

8:15am Registration and Meet and Greet
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (Coach Pick Up/Set Down Plaza Entry Level 1) 

8:30am Bus Departs PCEC  

9:00am Pool Lifesaving/Sport Pathways (Scarborough Beach Pool)  

Where the coast meets the pool! Located on Scarborough Beach, Scarborough Pool is near the local surf lifesaving club and is the perfect place to discuss the important role that learn to swim programs play in developing pathways to aquatic sport. See learn to swim programs in action and demonstrations from pool lifesaving sport participants.  

Coffee and muffin included.

11:15am Cultural Swimming and Water Safety Programs (Balga Leisurepark) 

Balga Lesiurepark is located in the heart of one of the most culturally diverse areas of Perth and are committed to providing culturally appropriate swimming and water safety programs for both children and adults to ensure that no one misses out on learning to swim. These programs allow people from different cultural backgrounds to participate in swimming and water safety programs. Here you can see these programs in action and speak with participants to explore program impacts.  

Lunch included. 

1pm Infant Aquatics Program (Aqualife East Victoria Park) 

Participate in an infant water awareness masterclass. The Infant Aquatics program is taught with the child dependent on the parent in the water and encourages the development of water familiarisation, exploration and safety skills to improve confidence. Hear from experts and learn new and innovative teaching techniques. 

2:15pm Arrive back at PCEC
